First, we must distinguish more clearly between tradition and Scripture. Many Christians have a set of cherished beliefs and practices, perhaps inherited from their parents or learned in childhood from the church. Too many of us have taken them on board without thinking them through. Evangelical believers are by no means free of this tendency. For example, take the suggestion that young Christians should avoid going to night clubs. I am not expressing an opinion on whether this particular activity
